MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Fitz Motorsports No. 36 NASCAR Nationwide Series team will temporarily slow operations, effective immediately. Kenny Wallace drove the car in the first five Nationwide Series events this season. A number of different factors led to the decision.

"Sponsor money for the No. 36 Dodge Charger was based on distribution of Shark Energy Drink," said team owner Armando Fitz. "While the initial response was terrific, it's taking longer than anticipated to generate enough funding to run the No. 36 car competitively in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

--(Cont'd From Front Page)-- "We're going to scale the No. 36 team back and put a full effort toward our No. 22 Supercuts Dodge," Fitz added. "Kenny Wallace has an opportunity to drive for another Nationwide Series team and we certainly don't want to hold him back. Kenny has been a great friend and supporter of our program, and he deserves to be racing full time. We're going to regroup and focus on our No. 22. We feel great our about our 2008 chances with Mike Bliss (No. 22 driver) and the entire Supercuts team as we move forward."

Fitz Motorsports will customize a race program for Shark Energy Drink as more distribution outlets are found and product is sold.

Moe Boukadida , CEO of Shark Energy Drink USA, is understanding and supportive of the recent decision to slow the No. 36 team's operations.

"Of course we're disappointed, especially after the team seemed to be gelling and improving with each race. We're all ready to do whatever we can to get the Shark Energy Drink brand back on the track as soon as humanly possible. These first few races have been a great experience for everyone at Shark and we want to build on that."

Wallace drove the Shark Energy Drink No. 36 Dodge Charger to an 11th-place finish Saturday in the Sharpie Mini 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The team is currently 24th in NASCAR Nationwide Series owner point standings.

Wallace signed with Jay Robinson Racing and they announced Tuesday that Wallace will be behind the wheel of the No. 28 U.S. Border Patrol Chevrolet for the remainder of the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series season. Wallace will make his debut in that car in Nashville during the running of the Pepsi 300.
