Miserable day for Gordon Posted:0535hrs By Reid Spencer, The Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service FORT WORTH, Texas - The handling of Jeff Gordon’s car was so far off Sunday that the four-time champion couldn’t drive the No. 24 Chevrolet. After fighting the car for more than 100 laps, Gordon ultimately lost control and scraped the Turn 4 wall on Lap 109.
--(Cont'd From Front Page)-- “I can’t remember the last time we struggled this bad,” Gordon said. “It’s just a bad day that got worse. I wish I had an answer for you, but I don’t. We’re just really, really bad, and I lost control of the car. I was hanging on just every single lap. “We’re going to fix the car and get back out there and do some testing. We have never felt anything like this. We saw the No. 48 in Las Vegas with their troubles, but we haven’t sensed anything like that until we got here and we have been way off. We have to find it because we can’t go through the year like this.” Gordon’s “test session” didn’t go well, either. He parked his car after completing 15 more laps, resigning himself to a 43rd-place finish.
