It’s not something you’d see on an episode of the Sopranos. A man in a Pennsylvania jail on drug charges is accused of trying to hire a hit man and paying them with NASCAR memorabilia including driver bobbleheads.

--(Cont'd From Front Page)--Allen Bridges, who is awaiting trial on charges he was selling painkillers, was allegedly asking around the Bedford county jail for a hit man to eliminate a witness against him.

The payment for the hit would be on the form of a bag of stuff from Bridges’ NASCAR collection.

According to a news release from Bedford County District Attorney Bill Higgins Jr. the case began in April when the senior Bridges offered a fellow inmate a large quantity of NASCAR items if the inmate could put him in touch with someone who could "feed (the witness) to the pigs" and make the witness "disappear forever."

Unfortunately for Bridges, a fellow inmate tipped off authorities who promptly set up an undercover sting using a state policeman. In May Bridges sent his 18-year-old son who was promptly arrested.

After turning over the large trash bag of NASCAR memorabilia to the detective, "Jacob then made a cutting motion with his hand across his throat."

Allen Bridges "has lost not only his prized and extensive collection of NASCAR memorabilia, but will spend a substantial portion of his life behind bars, and sadly, has brought his son down with him," Higgins said in the statement. As for the items contained in the bag: "It looked like a bunch of junk," Higgins added.

Both father and son have been charged with solicitation of murder, conspiracy and retaliation against a witness.
