JTG-Daugherty -- owned by Tad and Jodi Geschickter and ESPN broadcaster Brad Daugherty -- has focused its efforts on the Nationwide Series, but the team will field the No. 47 Toyota for Ambrose full-time in the Cup Series next year. The alliance with MWR helps make possible the step up in class. Under the agreement, JTG-Daugherty will operate its Cup team from Waltrip's 140,000-square foot race shop in Cornelius, N.C. MWR will furnish chassis for Ambrose, along with engineering, mechanical and other technical support. JTG-Daugherty will get its engines from TRD. --(Cont'd From Front Page)-- "We are extremely excited that Toyota chose to support us as we move to the Sprint Cup Series," Tad Geschickter said Wednesday in a statement released by the team. "Their engineering expertise and commitment to excellence is sure to expedite our development into a competitive Cup team." Frank Kerr will continue as crew chief for Ambrose, whose third-place finish at Watkins Glen is his only top-20 run in seven Cup starts this season. Ambrose also scored his first career Nationwide victory at the Glen and is 10th in the Nationwide standings through 30 events.
